Welcome to Twelve Gates

Welcome to Twelve Gates!

Unite. Create. Deliver. Twelve Gates.

Unite artists.
Create manga.
Deliver the message.

We unite artists who are called by God in order to create manga that will deliver a message about our awesome and awe-inspiring God!

We will let God use us for the talents he gave us to reach this world!

Anyone may join the group!

However, please read about our vision first. We are not your ordinary group!

Also, keep in mind that we're a team here. Others help you, so please help others!

And if you join, be kind, in and out of the group. If you're a member, keep our name clean!

We accept only original artwork and pages based on your original manga (at any stage in development).

Both one shots and series with multiple chapters are acceptable.

Short manga strips (including 4-koma) are allowed but only if it is related to a larger original manga project.

Fan art is not allowed. Miscellaneous Christian images or comic strips, even if they are in the style of Japanese manga, aren't allowed.

Please visit some of our awesome affiliates for that!

When submitting, be sure to check out the details of each folder and make sure you submit to the right one. This is helpful not only for us, but it also makes sure people can help you the way you want to be helped.

Read here for guidelines on what is acceptable and what is not.

NOTE: There is a five submissions per day limit in any folder. The purpose of this is to keep from flooding inboxes in order to allow members to keep up with comments and such without being overwhelmed.

TG's favorites will serve as a collection of resources and tutorials for creating manga! If you know of any great resources you'd like to share, suggest them to our favorites!

I shamelessly stole this from SareSai, who recently posted this in her own journal. Check it out.

We want greenhouses but do not get them. - John Acuff

A few things that I have been working on for 6 years are finally starting to happen.

Things I pushed on are picking up speed.

Things I didn’t even think could ever happen are starting to come together bit by bit.

But the truth is, if you told me 6 years ago that it would take me 6 years to do these things, I would have told you, “I hate you.”

Maybe I wouldn’t have been that direct or blunt. I would have just said, “Thank you for your advice.” I would have shaken your hand and calmly walked away. But all the while, I would have been thinking you are mistaken. I would have thought I could go faster. That things would pick up speed sooner.

I wanted my career and dream to be a greenhouse. I didn’t want a long, slow hustle, I wanted a concentrated sprint. I wanted to plant a few things and then return days or maybe weeks later to see how fast the greenhouse had grown them. But here’s the truth:

Every dream is an orchard.

You might not believe you have trees, but you do.

You have rows and rows of seedlings. Small trees that will not provide fruit right now. Maybe not next year either.

That’s OK. It’s easy to knock down a greenhouse. They’re not the most stable of buildings.

An entire orchard? Acres and acres of land covered with slow growth trees?

That’s hard to defeat.

Desire a greenhouse all you want, I certainly did. But know this: if you want your dream to have meaning, for both you and the people you serve, you’re going to need an orchard.

We need to remember that not everything happens in the blink of an eye. This is especially hard for some of us, myself included, because we live in a world where everything is so fast. High-speed internet, movies on demand, fast food, instant messaging, instant ramen...

We want our work and our ministry to be the same way, but that's usually not how it is. Joseph dreamt that he would be in a place of power and honor, but he had to wait 17 years before God allowed it to happen. David was anointed king but had to wait about 20 years before God allowed it to happen. Joshua and Caleb were faithful to God and were given permission to enter the Promised Land, but they had to wander in the desert 40 years before God allowed it to happen.

We think that our "arriving" and our success will be the most beneficial. However, because we have our eyes set on the destination, we often fail to see the process and what God is doing in us/with us/through us while we wait. We often don't see the lessons God is teaching us so that we are able to succeed when we actually arrive at our destination. The waiting is a process, and it matters.

It does take a while to build up an orchard... but once it's set in place, it's strong and not easily broken. That's what God wants to make of us in the process of waiting. He wants to make us stronger. Wiser. More generous. More faithful. More dangerous.

He wants to make us ready to arrive, because the destination has its own set of problems that he needs to prepare us for.

Don't think of the wait as a burden.
Don't think of it as unfruitful.
It's not.

It's your preparation period.

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up" (Galatians 6:9).

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to draw an image based on the following word/phrase:

2. Love

"And in this I give advice: It is to your advantage not only to be doing what you began and were desiring to do a year ago; but now you also must complete the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to desire it, so there also may be a completion out of what you have."--2 Corinthians 8:10-11

then why are you not completing your manga? "but now you also must complete the doing of it"... just curious.

It's not born out of "giving up" or burning out...It has to do with the direction my life is taking and how God will use me. I think God used this time, but I don't think it's the longterm plan for my life. My desire and my intentions aren't there, and I just don't think it's what the big picture is for me. But to those who are called, and are wearing down in their calling: Don't give up.

Wow!! Some friends of mine referred me here, and I didn't even know such a group existed. <3 I've always loved manga, and wondered how I could use it to glorify God and send a positive message to people. It's great to find people with the same mind and interests. Is it possible to join the group without having any manga to show yet? I'm working on making manga, but have never made one before.

I'll pray for you guys!! God bless!

Wow!! I'm glad word got to you and that you're here now!! That's awesome! You can definitely join, even if you're just starting out! We'd love to help encourage you as you begin to make manga, no matter where you are in the process! I hope that you'll keep working hard on whatever God's called you to do and that you'll be able to start AND finish your race, whatever it may be!

Good luck as you get going!!
Thank you so much! ^__^ I'm really stoked to be a part of this project. It's inspiring me to draw already!
